Brackla Harriers

March 2018

March’s summary follows.

Yet another month of brilliant Harriers’ achievements.

Starting with PARKRUNS

3rd March 2018

SNOW – All cancelled

Only 97 of the whole 506 Parkruns took place.

10th March

Poole – Andy Wilkins

Maesteg – 3 Harriers, Rowan Hobbs first yet again in 18.03 (course pb), Jacob Griffiths second (pb) and Gareth Taylor 5th (pb)

Penallta – Helen Little

Cheltenham – Chris Deere

Porthcawl – 15 Harriers ran, Chris Jeynes in second place, sb’s from Andrea Starritt, Mark Evans, Laura Bowen and Helen Kavanagh

17th March

Riverfront, Newport– Richard Steele.

Maesteg – Angela Coles

Pontypridd – Mary Beech

Lanhydrock – Joanna Kay Burridge, 28.46 – pb at location

Porthcawl – 17 Harriers ran with Rowan Hobbs in first place in a 17.57 sb. Sb’s also from Jane Ogilvie, Liz beech and Sue Wilkins.

24th March

Maesteg – 3 runners – Rowan Hobbs first again, Ewan Coles 20.53, first run at location and Angela Coles 28.14 pb at location

Porthcawl – 23 Harriers ran. Pb’s from Jacob Griffiths 18.51 and Joanna Kay Burridge 25.42. Sb’s from Mark Francis, Sara Kavanagh, Paul Morgan, Liz beech, Amanda Moore and Sue Wilkins. Great to see Keith Treharne taking part in his first Porthcawl Parkrun since July 2014.

31st March

Maesteg – This was Rowan Hobbs 100th Parkrun so 16 Harriers ventured to wet and windy Maesteg, mainly for the cake and Wetherspoons Breakfast afterwards. First Parkrun at this location for 5 Harriers. As it was Easter weekend, Rowan ran in a chicken suit and Chris Jeynes ran as an Easter Bunny. Charlotte Johns ran in a very fetching Easter Bonnet and even managed to make 1st lady home.

DSCN0026 (2)

Unfortunately for Rowan, his record of consecutive firsts at Maesteg was spoilt by Rhys Francis who came second on 17.53 and his mate from Bolton, Declan, who won in 17.48. Jacob Griffiths did 19.31 – pb at location. Did the chicken suit slow Rowan down?

Porthcawl – 7 Harriers took part – with a terrific pb from Joanna Kay Burridge at 24.46 – 56 seconds faster than her pb of the previous week!!! There were sb’s from Sarah Kavanagh, Mark Evans, Howard Jones and Helen Kavanagh. Great result from Helen as it was also her 100th Parkrun. Her 99th at Porthcawl.

Wammy – I didn’t know where it was either – it is at Newcastle Under Lyme (near Stoke on Trent) – first time here for Mary and Richard Beech.
