Merthyr Mawr Christmas Pudding Race 2011
Another successful Pudding Race for 2011 – results are available here.
“Ran my first pud run today and thought I’d just say how enjoyable an event it was. Superb friendly organisation and lots of fun. Thank you to all involved in running the event.” GC
The Merthyr Mawr Christmas Pudding Race is a challenging multi-terain six mile race.
Steve Ovett and JPR Williams are just a few of the legendary athletes who have used the sand dunes at Merthyr Mawr, Bridgend as a base for their training and especially the highest dune, the mother of all sand dunes, the highest in Europe, known to one and all as “The Big Dipper”. Running up it is a harsh challenge just in itself, but the fun continues with an eventual second long climb, off road rough moorland, and several streams towards the finish!Welcome to the Pudding Race, an annual Christmas tradition that draws runners from far and wide to compete in a truly memorable race, guaranteed to test every muscle and sinew in your body!

£1.00 from each entry fee is being donated to Macmillan Cancer
The race is a 6 miles challenging multi-terain course with road crossings where runners must abide by the directions given by the marshalls at all times!
Parking is FREE! Please note there will be a one way system in operation to exit Merthyr Mawr. When you come out of the one way system onto the A48 please turn left only and follow the road down to the next roundabout where it is then safe to return in the opposite direction if needed.
We discourage the use of personal stereos/ipods for your own safety. All entrants run under BAF rules, compete entirely at their own risk and the organisers accept no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury, however caused.
Race History
The Pudding Race was started in 1990 by Bridgend AC who organised the race for 10 years, handing over to the Brackla Harriers Club in 2000. The original race route took in the stepping stones by Ogmore castle, a route abandoned after heavy rain submerged the stones in year 2!
